With a light touch for heavy topics, Brazilian filmmaker Anna Muylaert looks at an unusual family configuration—the true story of Pierre, who at age 17 learns that his adoptive mother had in fact stole him, landing her in prison and Pierre with the biological family who spent years tracking him down. What follows is the tale of an androgynous young man robbed of his identity just as he is about to find himself, while a perceptive camera carefully tracks how pent-up emotions slowly turn into rage and rebellion.
