“A short is an encapsulation of one theme, expressed through film. I prefer this distilled and potent format to the longer traditional form, as a director’s sensibility is more easily identified and expressed, taking a fraction of the time.” –– Karen Young
Karen Young’s extensive credits as an actress include Hollywood’s Daylight, starring Sylvester Stallone, Jaws 4: The Revenge and Hoffa; indie films such as Joe the King, The Wife, and Torch Song Trilogy; and foreign films such as Heading South, opposite Charlotte Rampling. She has appeared in numerous plays, beginning with the original production of Sam Shepard’s A Lie of the Mind in 1985, and the Ethan Hawke-directed revival of the same, in 2010. Her TV credits include seasons 4, 5 and 6 of The Sopranos, playing FBI Agent Robyn Sanseverino. Her love of short films goes back to the production of her own two, A Blink of Paradise (35mm, 12 min.), starring Martha Plimpton, and The Pesky Suitor (16mm, 23 min.) starring Claire Danes. She is the Shorts Programmer at the Maine International Film Festival.
